The best way to watch waterbirds is from a kayak! A perfect day for kayaking to the Dungeness Lighthouse and back, riding the tide out and then riding it back in, revealed extensive mudflats in the shallow bay and also a huge variety of birds enjoying the warm weather and plentiful opportunities for fishing. Dungeness Bay is home to the Dungeness National Wildlife Refuge and over 250 species of birds.
